Former Hadley Luzerne Teacher's Aide Ellen M. Graulich Dies at 69

A devoted mother, grandmother, and longtime educator, Ellen Graulich is being remembered for her dedication to family, her years of service to local students, and her lasting impact on the Lake Luzerne community.

LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. Ellen M. Graulich, a beloved mother, grandmother, retired teacher's aide, and longtime Lake Luzerne resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 12, 2026. She was 69 years old.

Born on January 25, 1957, in Plainview, New York, Ellen was the daughter of the late John and Lucille Young Ryff. She married Mark Graulich on September 18, 1982, at the Church of the Holy Infancy in Lake Luzerne. The couple shared more than three decades together before Mark's passing in 2018.

Ellen devoted much of her career to the Hadley Luzerne School District, where she worked as a teacher's aide in both the elementary and middle schools. Before retiring in 2018, she spent years helping students and supporting teachers, earning the appreciation of those she worked alongside.

Outside the classroom, Ellen enjoyed camping and treasured every opportunity to spend time with her family. She was also actively involved in her children's lives, proudly serving as her son Adam's Boy Scout leader during his younger years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mark, and her sisters Arlene Icolari and Joan Conigliano.

Ellen is survived by her children Nicole (Christopher) Teal of Princeton, North Carolina, Adam (Lacy) Graulich of Lake Luzerne, and Tyler (Shalon) Graulich of Lake Luzerne. She also leaves behind her stepdaughter Anna Medici, grandchildren Parker, Naomi, Jordon, Darren, Michael, and Allison, great grandchildren Piper, Hailey, and Ginny, her brother John (Susan) Ryff of Florida, her stepfather Bill Young, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brewer Funeral Home, 24 Church Street in Lake Luzerne. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by burial at Luzerne Cemetery.
