Lake Luzerne Fugitive Caught After Playing ‘Robin Hood’ in the Woods

Authorities in Washington County had an unexpected encounter last week when they tracked down Tyrone A. Wood, 28, a Lake Luzerne parolee who had fled into the woods—armed with a homemade bow and arrow.

Wood, who was wanted on an active parole warrant, was discovered Friday morning around 11:50 a.m. when the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police arrived at Darfler Road in Hebron to apprehend him. Wood had been living in a trailer behind a residence, but law enforcement knew from past experience that he had a habit of running.

The Escape & The Arrest

With that in mind, officers set up a perimeter before approaching—and as expected, Wood bolted, disappearing into the dense tree line.

After a brief chase, law enforcement caught up to him in an open field, where they were met with an unexpected sight. Breathing heavily, Wood turned to officers with a grin, declared himself ‘Robin Hood,’ and asked where ‘Little John’ was.

Unfortunately for Wood, there was no Sherwood Forest escape plan this time. Officers moved in quickly and took him into custody without further incident.

What Happens Next?

Wood remains in custody as he faces charges related to his parole violation. Officials have not disclosed any additional pending charges, but it’s clear his attempt at medieval roleplay didn’t get him far.
