Lake Luzerne Man Admits to Shaking Infant, Causing Severe Head Injury
A Lake Luzerne man has admitted to shaking an infant, causing a serious head injury that required extensive hospitalization, according to the Warren County District Attorney's Office.
Robert Rivers was arrested on October 31, 2023, after the infant was rushed to Glens Falls Hospital with what doctors described as suspicious life-threatening injuries.
Investigation & Arrest
According to New York State Police, Rivers was responsible for the care of the infant at the time of the incident. Authorities determined that his actions were reckless and led to the severe injury.
Initially, Rivers pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and child endangerment during a November 16, 2023, court appearance. However, on Tuesday in Warren County Court, he withdrew his plea, admitting to the crime.
The court also issued an order of protection to ensure the infant remains safe from further harm.
What’s Next?
Rivers is expected to face sentencing in the coming weeks, where he could receive a lengthy prison term for his actions. Officials have not yet disclosed the current condition of the child.
Law enforcement continues to emphasize the importance of child safety, urging the community to report any signs of abuse immediately.
