Stony Creek Man Arrested After Month-Long Investigation into Sex Offender Violations

STONY CREEK, NY – After nearly a month of investigation, authorities have arrested a Stony Creek man, William Mastrolia, 59, for multiple violations of New York State sex offender registry laws.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Management Unit launched an investigation on August 11, suspecting Mastrolia of failing to comply with mandatory registry requirements. According to officials, Mastrolia neglected to update his photograph and failed to submit his annual verification form to the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services, as required for registered sex offenders.

Evading the Registry

Further investigation revealed that Mastrolia had left his previously registered address but failed to inform law enforcement or update his location with the New York State Sex Offender Registry—a serious violation of New York State Corrections Law.

Authorities tracked Mastrolia to an unregistered residence in Stony Creek, where he was ultimately arrested. He now faces multiple felony charges, including:
