Two Lake Luzerne Residents Accused of Running Over Landlord During Violent Dispute

LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. A landlord tenant dispute in Lake Luzerne allegedly erupted into a violent confrontation that left one person seriously injured and two people facing multiple felony charges.

According to the Warren County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a dispute on May 24. Investigators allege the confrontation escalated when Nickalas A. Vandenburg, 27, and Lisa M. Bennett, 27, intentionally drove a pickup truck over their landlord during the altercation.

Authorities say the violence did not end there. Investigators allege the pair got out of the truck after striking the victim and physically assaulted them before getting back into the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Deputies later located Vandenburg in Corinth, where she was taken into custody. Bennett later turned himself in to authorities without incident.

Investigators also allege that the couple's three children were inside the pickup truck during the incident. As a result, both defendants were additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.

Vandenburg and Bennett have each been charged with first degree attempted assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Both were remanded to the Warren County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, pending further court proceedings.
